SM Supermalls president Steven Tan, in celebration of Manila Bulletin’s 125th anniversary, ponders on the many, many ways life is better

I believe that life is significantly better today than it was 100 years ago in so many ways. We are now more technologically advanced and accessible, so shopping is possible anywhere and anyhow.

As I always say, today everything has to be shoppable and shippable. The quality of our life has improved so much, and because of this, our parents and grandparents are healthier and live longer lives. We have more time to love and be loved.

Information access, such as today’s Manila Bulletin, which is both online and on print across the country, helps more people make informed decisions about health, finance, and personal wellbeing.

There are many more entertainment options available to us, so we have more ways to have fun, whether it’s experiential dining, movie watching, even pickleball and other sports inside our malls, for example—and this leads to happier families and communities.

One of the more significant ways life is better is that society has become more inclusive, more accepting of those who are on the spectrum, from different cultures and faiths. Information access, such as today’s Manila Bulletin, which is both online and on print across the country, helps more people make informed decisions about health, finance, and personal wellbeing.

All these changes make our lives today so much better!
