The Manila Bulletin’s 125th anniversary inspires Mariana Zobel de Ayala, senior vice president and head of leasing and hospitality at Ayala Land, to celebrate the spaces around us that help us reach milestones in personal and societal growth

For me, life is better when the spaces around us inspire growth. It’s a privilege that Ayala Land has formed part of the lives of generations of Filipinos as a platform for special moments such as first dates at one of the Ayala Malls, their first home in our residential developments, wedding celebrations and honeymoons at our hotels and resorts, that first job in one of our office buildings.

Working in real estate has shown me how thoughtfully designed spaces can shape the way we live and, in some cases, our outcomes.

I think about Makati, which can stretch from representing opportunity and growth in the central business district, but also peace and calm at Ayala Triangle. In Bonifacio Global City, climate-resilient infrastructure and vibrant energy bring together culture, community, and innovation. I’ve also been inspired by Nuvali, which reminds us of the importance of living mindfully, through the integration of wellness and outdoor spaces.

What excites us at Ayala Land is the idea of creating spaces that go beyond function, and drive meaning—places where people feel connected, find purpose, and see possibilities.

I believe life is better when the places we live and work in empower us to thrive, individually and as a community. That’s what inspires me—the opportunity to create environments where people can grow and build a future of possibility.
